Great Falls Public Library offers access to a number of research databases and indexes. These databases are made available in part from funds allocated by the Montana State Legislature. Please let your library and your legislators know how important access to this material is to you.
IMPORTANT: Some of the databases below are subscription databases that may require a password or a user ID. If you are prompted for that information, please call the Great Falls Public Library Information Desk at (406)-453-0349.

Gale Virtual Reference Library
"A database of encyclopedias and specialized reference sources for multidisciplinary research. These reference materials once were accessible only in the library, but now you can access them online from the library or remotely 24/7. Because each library creates its own eBook collection, the content you see may vary if you use the database at different libraries."
Junior Edition K12
"Designed for students in elementary and middle school with access to a variety of indexed and full-text magazines, newspapers and reference books for information on current event, the arts, science, popular culture, helth, people, government, history, sports and more."
NOTE FROM NOLA: I found this database to be extremely easy to navigate with its kid friendly graphics.
Kids InfoBits
"Developed especially for beginning researchers in Kindergarten through Grade 5, features a developmentally appropriate, visually graphic interface, the most popular search method is moving from a broad subject to a narrower topc using the subject-based topic tree. the curriculum-related, age appropriate, full-text content is from the best elementary reference sources and magazines. This database covers geography, current events, the arts, science, health, people, government, history, sports and more."
What Do I Read Next?

We provide library tours on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

To schedule a personalized library visit please call 406-453-0349 ext. 215 or email me two weeks in advance.

Please include the following information:
  • Contact person's name
  • Telephone number
  • Date
  • Time
  • School
  • Age group and/or grade level
  • Number of peopl attending
  • Please put "Library Tour"in the subject field.

Gather Materials

Finally, my staff and I would be happy to gather specific materials for your classroom use.
Please review the following conditions:
  • We request a minimum of two weeks prior notice.
  • Verbal or email communication is accepted. Please put "Teacher Request" in the subject field.
  • Materials are picked-up at the library front desk; we do not deliver.
  • Check out materials on your personal library card or an institutional card. Speak with the front desk staff to acquire an institutional card.
  • Lost or damaged materials will be billed to the library account they are checked out on.
