The GFPL Youth Services Department this summer is offering three different reading challenges to keep kids and teens reading and learning all summer long! Each book you read counts towards all the reading challenges you are enrolled in. You can still sign up for the Summer Reading Rewards Program and the Teen Loot Box program even if you do not attend the kick-off party.
Children are asked to track their reading using our Beanstack app or a paper log. People can download Beanstack from the Google Play or Apple App Store, or visit our Beanstack site on our website.
Kids and teens birth to 18 will earn a small prize for every 5 hours they read all summer long! Visit the Kids’ Place Desk to choose your prize from our prize cart.
Each week, readers who have completed 5 hours of reading will be entered in a drawing to win a bigger prize. Visit our Facebook Page to see each week’s prize!

possible by a Keep Kids Reading Grant from the Town Pump Charitable Foundation.
Teens ages 12 to 18, meanwhile, are invited to sign up for their free Library Loot Box!
Each box contains three library books individually selected just for you, plus prizes and candy to sweeten your reading. Readers who complete at least two of their three Library Loot Box books and log their reading using our Beanstack app will earn a chance to win a free Nintendo Switch 2 gaming system plus two games!
Pick-up starts June 5, when our Summer Reading Program kicks off. Please see our website calendar for a complete list of our free Summer Reading events for kids, teens, and adults. Even if you sign up after June 5, you can still receive a Loot Box and you do not need to attend the party.
A Kids’ Place staff member or volunteer will contact you when your Loot Box is ready to pick up at the Circulation Desk. We will make every effort to have your box ready within 2-3 weeks after signing up. Thank you for your patience!
Additionally, to help celebrate America’s 250th Birthday, the Library presents the “America 250 Reading Challenge.”
Adults or kids/teens must read one American history book between June 5 and July 8, when the Library and the City of Great Falls will have an event reading the Declaration of Independence on the Civic Center steps.
After you read the book, fill out a blue entry slip in the front of the library to be entered into a drawing to win a free pass to the Scheels Aim High Big Sky Aquatic and Recreation Center (for kids ages 3 to 17) or a gift card from a local establishment (adults ages 18+)
