Dungeons & Dragons is a fantasy-themed tabletop role-playing game. Each player develops a character with their own backstory, fantasy race (an elf, a dwarf, etc.), and class (such as a wizard, a bard, or a fighter). Then small group of players come together around a table to act out an imaginary quest, such as finding a treasure or defeating a dragon, facilitated by a volunteer Dungeon Master (DM).

Playing D&D is a great way to make new friends! D&D supports the development of social skills, teaching problem-solving, patience, and teamwork. Chance is simulated by rolling special dice, so D&D is also a great way to practice mental math skills. And because the game is based on extensive rulebooks, players also get plenty of practice reading for information.

Our Dungeons & Dragons program is for kids and teens 10 to 18. Players of all experience levels are welcome, and the Library provides all needed supplies. Snacks are provided, and ASL interpretation is available upon request.

The Great Falls Public Library hosts 3 D&D campaigns a year: We typically have a spring campaign starting in March, a summer campaign starting in June, and a fall campaign starting in September. Campaigns are about 8 weeks long and meet on Saturdays from 3-5:30pm in the Library’s basement meeting rooms.
