The Great Falls Public Library is excited to announce that Amy Dissmeyer has agreed to serve as the new Director of the Great Falls Public Library.
At a special meeting on November 14, The Great Falls Public Library Board of Trustees voted to offer Amy Dissmeyer the position of Library Director. She begins at GFPL on Jan. 5, 2026. Amy comes to Great Falls from Spirit Lake, Iowa, where she served as the director of the Spirit Lake Public Library.
Previous to her tenure in Spirit Lake, Iowa, Amy served as the Library Director at Hastings Public Library in Hastings, Nebraska from 2009 to 2024.
In addition, she earned a Master’s degree in Library Information Science from the University of Denver and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management from the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
On Amy’s LinkedIn Page she states, “At the heart of my professional journey lies a commitment to transforming libraries into dynamic community hubs. Through strategic development and deployment of library services, we’ve created inclusive spaces that empower individuals and support lifelong learning.”
Amy takes over for Susie McIntyre, who submitted her resignation in July of 2025. Susie McIntyre served as GFPL Director since 2019 and she began working at the Library in 2005.
Over the past four months, the GFPL Hiring Committee, in partnership with the City of Great Falls Human Resources Department, has completed the administrative and outreach work necessary to fill the position. This included developing the job description, posting the opening, reviewing applications, and conducting initial screening interviews. Library staff provided input through an online questionnaire, as well.
The Great Falls Public Library will continues to serve the community with regular hours and programming throughout this transition.
Lastly, the Library Staff and GFPL Board of Trustees host a public farewell party for Susie McIntyre on December 9 from 5 to 6 PM on the second floor of the Library.
