Library cards are FREE for Cascade County residents.
Getting a Card
To get a Library Card, please stop at our 1st floor checkout desk to fill out an application. To complete the process, you must provide a photo ID and proof of address.
NOTE: Persons without proof of address may be issued a Limited Use Card. Persons with a Limited Use Card may check out up to 2 items at a time. The Library will mail a proof of address postcard to Limited User Card applicants. Applicants may return to the Library bringing the delivered postcard to be updated to a regular card. Applicants who do not return to the Library to update their Limited Use Card within 45 days will be removed from the system.
Examples of Photo ID:
- Driver’s License
- State ID card
- Passport
- Military or Student ID
Examples of Proof of Cascade County Residency:
- Photo ID with name and current Cascade County address
- Mail posted to your current Cascade County address or P.O. box
- Utility bill, voter or vehicle registration, hunting or fishing license, lease agreement, rental receipt, or property tax statement
- Persons staying at the Rescue Mission, Mercy Home, may bring a letter on the organizational letterhead as proof of residency
Children’s Library Cards
Children under age 14 must have their library card application signed by a parent or legal guardian. There is no minimum age to have a library card, but you must be able to sign the form. Both the parent and child must be present.
Nonresident Cards
Residents outside Cascade County may acquire a library card, also, but there is a $30.00 annual fee (some exceptions apply). Photo ID and proof of address must still be provided.
Replacement Cards
If your Library card is lost or stolen, call 406.453.0349. We will suspend your account until you are able to come to the Library for a new card. Please stop at the 1st floor checkout desk, show us a picture ID and we can issue you a new card. We charge $1.00 for a replacement card.
