Digital Literacy Workshop Poster

The library will host six weeks of Digital Literary Workshops starting on Feb. 6 through to April 17. Each workshop runs from 1 to 2:30 pm in the Small Meeting Room in the basement of the Library every other Thursday. Below is the schedule of topics:

February 20: Internet Basics – In this workshop you will introduce newly connected users to basic terminology, functionality, and navigation of internet browsers, search engines and websites. Please bring your own device if you can.
March 6 – Email Basics – Attendees will create a Gmail account, learn how to perform basic email functions like send, receive and reply to an email, recognize and deal with spam, organize and delete emails and search for messages. Please bring your own device if you can.
March 20 – Cybersecurity – Learn how to be safer online with accounts/passwords, overview of frauds/scams. Please bring your own device if you can.
April 3 – Video Conferencing Basics – In this workshop, attendees will learn how to create an account on a popular video conferencing platform (Zoom) and build confidence when using features of the platform in an online meeting. Please bring your own device if you can.
April 17 – Mobile Devices – This workshop is for those who have a new Android or iOS mobile device, or are considering getting one, and want to learn more about the basic functions. It will support attendees to get connected, identify common apps, and build confidence in using their device safely. The class will go through both devices, so please be patient when you attend. Bring your own device.
May 1 – ADD ON CLASS – Files and Saving We will go over how to save files within the Microsoft system on the Windows 11 platform. Please bring your own device.
